Introduction: It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies when you’re watching your little one grow up. This week, we celebrated a major milestone, our little star, Paige, turned one! As we reflect on the incredible journey of her first year, we’re filled with gratitude for the countless memories she’s brought into our lives.

The Joy of the First Year: Paige’s first year has been a whirlwind of new experiences, from her first smile to her first steps. Every day has been an adventure, filled with laughter, learning, and love. As a parent, there’s nothing quite like watching your child explore the world around them, each day bringing something new.

Reflecting on Milestones: This year wasn’t just special for Paige; it was a big year for her older sister, Caitlin, too. Caitlin turned sweet 16 in June, a milestone that marks the transition from childhood to young adulthood. Having two daughters at such different stages of life, one just starting out and the other on the brink of new beginnings, has been a unique and rewarding experience.

Balancing the Needs of Different Ages: Parenting children at different stages comes with its own set of challenges. Paige is just beginning to explore her independence, while Caitlin is navigating the complexities of teenage life. Fortunately, we have Lowri, our middle child, who helps bridge the gap and keeps the balance in our household.

The Role of Occupational Therapy in Supporting Development: As parents, it’s important to recognise the unique needs of each child and provide the support they need to thrive. Occupational Therapy (OT) can play a vital role in helping children like Paige and Caitlin develop essential skills. For Paige, OT might focus on supporting her motor skills and sensory development as she grows and explores. For Caitlin, OT can offer strategies to manage the stress and challenges that come with being a teenager.

Conclusion: Celebrating Paige’s first birthday and reflecting on Caitlin’s 16th has been a reminder of how quickly time passes and how important it is to cherish every moment. As we look forward to the year ahead, we’re excited to continue supporting our children’s growth and development, with the help of resources like Occupational Therapy to guide us along the way.
